House Tour: Flower Mound House Reveal

We’re really excited to share with you a breathtaking family home reveal by Scout & Nimble room designer, Ginger Curtis of Urbanology Designs. This large-scale project is intimate in spite of its size, with beautiful accents and inspiring details.

Ginger tells us more about the design of this family home in Flower Mound, Texas.

This was a 12 room renovation and design project for a newly built home. The house already had beautiful rustic-style architecture and just needed a few minor redesigns and tweaks to make it perfect for our modern/casual luxe-loving clients.

The dining room is simple and elegant with the focus on natural wood elements and, of course, the fantastic set of brass pendant lights. Their scale suits the high ceilings perfectly, and the color adds impressive warmth to the room. The carpet and furry throw soften the sleek lines of the table and the stone wall behind it, creating an entirely balanced room.

In the Great Room, getting the scale right was the biggest challenge. We wanted to make the lofty room feel cozy despite its size. We chose the pendants, rug, and furniture to be proportionate to the large room while remaining livable and not too fussy. The soft gray on the walls, Edgecomb Gray by Benjamin Moore, creates a tranquil background in this room and throughout the rest of the house.

Off the Great Room is the kitchen and breakfast nook where we updated light fixtures and added a new rug, table, barstools and chairs in keeping with the modern feel of the house.

The study is one of our favorite rooms.  The dark color on the walls, Tricorn Black by Sherwin Williams, beautifully complements the one-of-a-kind, custom-built iron and wood wall unit and mid-century modern furniture.

This second living space holds a pool table and extra seating. Our clients wanted to display their record collection, and this was the perfect spot to do that. This will also serve as an additional entertainment space when family and friends gather.

The master bedroom has a custom cement casing over the fireplace. The gorgeous texture adds a strong focal to this room and contrasts beautifully with the wooden furniture, floor, and exposed beams.

The guest bedroom has a subtle and soft palette of gray and blush. We introduced loads of textures to the decor while keeping things minimalist. This creates a clutter-free but cozy and inviting space for guests. This room is every pre-teen girls dream! It has a custom platform bed, oh-so-soft linens, macramé hangings, a fun bookcase and a dreamy watercolor mural.

The Golden State Warriors and superheroes are firm favorites of our clients’ super cool son. For his room, we designed a wood and metal bunk bed complete with an additional pull-out mattress. Together with the fold-out lounge chair, there are 4 sleeping spaces to accommodate the ultimate sleep-over. A metal catch-all locker, and sports and super-hero memorabilia complete the room.

The art studio is tucked away in the corner of the house. This is the perfect space for our clients’ daughter who loves to draw and paint. We had a wooden platform built for the desk with hidden storage for painting paraphernalia. A hanging rattan chair and wooden daybed provide ample space for hours of daydreaming! The three woven pendants hung at different heights add soft lighting to the already light-drenched room.

The goal of the arcade room was to create a fun hangout place for family and friends. We’ve added pops of color as well as a custom snack bar area and plenty of seating.

Our clients enjoy hosting family and friends, so an outdoor living/entertaining space was a must. The handmade table, benches, and chairs give ample seating for meals. Don’t you just love those fantastic matte black pendants?
