Home Tour | Lauren Leonard's Atlantic Beach House

Hues of blue and white paired with natural wood tones are a great recipe for a beach house getaway, and this house was ‘cooked’ to perfection. In this home created for her brother and his family, designer Lauren Leonard encapsulates the feeling of laying beachside all day long: bright, breezy, and without a worry in the world. Take a look at this beautiful ocean inspired residence, and see for yourself!

The quaint exterior of this home is complete with shingle-style siding and charming window shutters. Brick pavers are laid in a herringbone fashion leading up to the stately home with not a two, but a three-car garage. After all, any family’s forever home needs room for growing!

A classic white front door creates a welcoming entrance, and it’s pet friendly, too! Entering the home is just as breathtaking. You can practically hear the ocean through this large tropical print, which is situated above simple leather X stools. Bleached hardwood floors are carried throughout the home, and unique lantern and caged lighting solutions give off a coastal feel.

The designer’s sister-in-law is a health blogger and mom of two, so a dreamy kitchen was an absolute must. This bright, white kitchen features floor-to-sky-high-ceiling cabinetry, a large island with seating for the whole family, and appliances made for a top-notch chef. Over the island, a wood beam detail and two blue lantern pendants add charming character to the space. Touches of blue are seen throughout the entire home, in shades and patterns of all types like this fun print on the upholstered counter stools. Chunky wooden open shelves hold everyday dishes and jars, but the real showstopper is what lies between them: a large flared metal hood.

At first glance, there’s nothing out of the ordinary here. But when you open these white double doors, a spacious pantry with a pop of color is revealed. There’s so much hidden storage space here for all the goodies necessary to whip up some tasty and delicious meals. A rolling library-style ladder provides style and function for those hard-to-reach shelves.

Next to the kitchen sits a bright and breezy dining area with accents of blue and gold. This console table simply styled with lamps and vessels is centered below a circular shell mirror, which matches the wall color. Slipcover seating in a single tone creates a soft look and is also a practical solution for a family with small children; the covers are easy to remove and clean to keeps things looking in tip-top shape! Large windows dressed in patterned blue curtains provide amply natural sunlight to this space.

Subtle touches of greenery give this living room a breath of fresh air (literally). Hues of blue are carried to this room as well, and sitting in one of these accent chairs is like floating with its wavy pattern. A white shiplap fireplace with a chunky wooden mantle adds texture to the room. Open shelving along the walls are styled with ocean-inspired accents, which perfectly compliment the large abstract wall print.

The office space switches things up a bit by mixing multiple tones of blue like the blue-grey built-ins and navy chair cushion. The chunky wicker chairs bring so much texture to this space, while the smooth white walls and rug create balance. In the bathroom, pattern is at play on this sea-foam wallpaper. Wicker and wooden elements bring the outdoors inside in a refined and contained manner. These spaces perfectly exemplify how multiple patterns, textures, and tones in can work together without feeling overwhelming.

A denim-textured wallpaper is showcased in this bedroom, and it’s beautifully complimented by a light blue rug and white walls. Eye-catching ceilings like this one can do wonders for visually opening a room, and they don’t take up any usable space. A canopy bed with thin posts makes a grand statement, but still feels open and inviting. A cushioned daybed is placed below a wall of windows dressed in fun blue curtains.

This dreamy bathroom displays a blue and white patterned tile floor that feels young and fresh. An all white vanity with his and her sinks and plenty of storage is the perfect solution for keeping a clutter-free space. A wicker stool sits next to a white freestanding tub, providing a place to sit and relax. Two windows above create natural light for the space, while double-layered shades provide privacy when needed.

A second bedroom feels oh-so cozy with its floral pillows, light window treatments, white linens and simple styling. We could seriously spend all day here.

Blue tile is featured in the laundry room, as well as other places in the home. For added continuity and flow, the same blue cabinets from the pantry are used here as well. Details like the beaded chandelier, farmhouse sink, and hanging rack for clothes could almost make doing laundry fun! In the mudroom, space for hanging up coats and dropping shoes creates the perfect hub for storing last minute items before you hit the road. This type of solution doesn’t need to take up a lot of space, and adding a few built-in drawers and cabinets can make a world of difference.

Now this is a playroom most kids can only dream of. This room offers comfy seating, space for crafts, and (yes!) a place for homework. A sofa in a rich blue hue with playful pillows is perfect for cozying up and relaxing. The built-in desk provides storage to hide clutter, while open shelves above display toys and books. Using a multi-hue rug like the one shown here hides dirt and imperfections easily, so it’s perfect for a kids’ space.

Small details make all the different in this bedroom, like the large fish prints, deep blue bookshelf, and round rope chandelier. It’s amazing to see how subtly changing the paint color in here adds a masculine flair, while also making the door, ceiling, and trim pop.
