Lumbar Fever: Why All Of Your Favorite Designers Are Using These Gorgeous Throws

Loved for their versatility and ability to add the perfect final touch to a room, lumbar pillows are the end-all-be-all of any accent pillow project. Whether you put it on an accent chair, a hallway bench or somewhere in the bedroom, a lumbar pillow is sure to compliment the unique design features of your home.

By no means is the lumbar new to the scene, but we are thrilled to see this versatile style featured front & center in bedrooms by our favorite designers, including Lynde Galloway, Chango & Co, Emily Henderson, Brad Ramsey, Zoë Feldman & JDP Interiors (just to name a few 😉) .

To celebrate, we’ve rounded up our favorite lumbar inspiration & paired it with our hand-picked lumbar pillow collection for your viewing (and shopping) pleasure. From chic, classic patterns to vintage inspired, tribal prints — the lumbar pillow craze is something we’re totally on board with. See for yourself how this simple touch can elevate any space

Another plus with the lumbar pillow is the ease that goes into making your bed every day (if you’re one of those types of people, that is.) The lumbar pillow takes away the extra time needed to perfectly organize your 6 decorative pillows and replaces it with one convenient accessory. Anything that guarantees you a few more minutes of shut-eye in the morning is a win in our book!

Add in some texture |Lumbar pillows are the perfect excuse to bring extra texture to the room

Sometimes a bright pattern doesn’t quite fit your space, but you still want to include those graphic, eye-catching features. Create that variety by including various textures and fabrics. Handwoven fabrics are multidimensional and bring all of the amazing colors out of softly hued pillows.

Play with Pattern | Variety is the spice of life and there is no greater variety than multiple patterns amongst your pillows.

Mixing patterns can be tricky so we like to follow a few rules:

No. 1: Don’t be afraid of imperfect colors. If you love two pillows but their blue hued patterns don’t quite match, throw a warm-toned lumbar in the middle to mix it up!

No. 2: Mix hard lines with soft patterns. Pair a chic grid patterned comforter with a lumbar pillow that features natural, rounded, or soft lines.

No. 3: Excite the eye with a little contrast. We love a light and neutral comforter. We especially love paring it with bold, saturated patterns that draw the eye to the main attraction of any bedroom: the bed.

Sweet, Sweet Solids | While we love patterns, texture & playful prints, you can never go wrong with a simple solid in gorgeous earth-tones.

One popular arrangement for incorporating lumbar pillows is to use two standard pillows, two standard shams, and one extra-long lumbar pillow to create the perfect bed setup. You can always maximize on style with a vintage patterned rug or eye-catching artwork that plays off the existing colors in the room.
