It’s the most wonderful time of the year. Christmas? Of course not! We’re talking about Pantone’s announcement of their 2016 pick for Color of the Year. This year’s selection is twice as nice with Pantone choosing two ethereal pastels, Rose Quartz and Serenity. We know you can’t wait to start decorating with these amazing hues, so we’ve pulled together some of our products inspired by Pantone’s picks.
Who is Pantone?
Pantone has become known as the authority on color after creating the Pantone Matching System (PMS). Simply put, PMS is a standardized color reproduction system. By using a standardized Pantone color, manufacturers and designers across the world can make sure that colors match exactly with no contact. Coming home and realizing your paint swatch doesn’t match the blue in your bedspread? Gone with the help of PMS. Each year, Pantone chooses a color symbolic of mood and attitude of the year to come.
Serenity (Pantone 15-3919) is “weightless and airy, like the expanse of the blue sky above us, bringing feelings of respite and relaxation even in turbulent times.” This blue with a hint of periwinkle is tranquil and spa-like, adding color to a space without any fear of being too garish.
Rose Quartz (Pantone 13-1520) is a “persuasive yet gentle tone that conveys compassion and a sense of composure.” This soft pink is warm and inviting enough to be used with metallics for the holiday season, but delicate enough to blend seamlessly with airy florals for the spring.
